For 75 years, the Coordinated Science Laboratory has been at the forefront of discoveries that have quietly — and not so quietly — changed the world. This milestone deserved a celebration to match, and CSL delivered with a landmark two-day extravaganza that brought together the brightest minds in science, engineering, and industry.

Two days may seem brief for a laboratory with seven decades of world-changing achievements to its name, but every moment was packed with meaning — honoring the giants who built CSL's legacy while casting a bold vision for what comes next.

The festivities opened with remarks from Rashid Bashir, dean of The Grainger College of Engineering, alongside former CSL director Klara Nahrstedt and interim director Minh Do. Their words set the tone for a day of inspiration: keynote addresses and dynamic panel discussions featuring industry leaders who spoke to CSL's outsized impact across both academia and the private sector. The evening culminated in an elegant celebratory dinner at the Alice Campbell Alumni Center — a fitting tribute to 75 years of excellence.

Day two brought fresh energy and forward momentum. A keynote address from Dawn Tilbury of the University of Michigan anchored an agenda brimming with ambition. A highlight of the day was an exclusive Fireside Chat with IBM Chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna, whose conversation offered rare insight into the intersection of cutting-edge research and real-world technological transformation — a reminder of just how far CSL's influence reaches into the highest levels of industry. The day continued with panels exploring the cutting edge of artificial intelligence, robotics, and decision and control systems — fields in which CSL has long been a defining force.

As the celebration drew to a close, one thing was unmistakably clear: CSL is not resting on its laurels. The next 75 years are already taking shape, and if the past is any indication, the breakthroughs ahead will be nothing short of extraordinary. The world is better for what CSL has built — and it's only getting started.
