The Center for Autonomy

The Intelligent Robotics Lab (IRL) kicked off in 2015; in 2018, IRL was expanded and rebranded as the Center for Autonomy. It is dedicated to working on autonomous systems that can function both reliably and safely. It has overseen the creation of major new robotics experimental spaces and fostered greater robotics activity at the U. of I. by helping recruit several significant faculty hires. Since 2022, it has offered an M.Eng. in Autonomy & Robotics, which is unique in being the first and only degree program ever overseen by CSL.
