Karrie Karahalios
Karrie Karahalios is a Professor of Computer Science and a University Scholar at the University of Illinois. Her work focuses on the interaction between people, their communities, and the social cues they perceive in networked electronic spaces. She’s studied and built socio-technical systems in the domains of algorithmically-mediated social media feeds, content-moderation systems, community clustering, autism spectrum disorder interaction, group dynamics, recommender systems, smart infrastructures, and more. The work has resulted in 200 publications in top-tier conferences with numerous best paper awards. Furthering this work, Professor Karahalios co-directs the Center for Just Infrastructures, a center dedicated to the interrogation of people, algorithms, and their everyday infrastructures.
