Dr. Yang Wang
Dr. Yang Wang is an associate professor of information science, and by courtesy, computer science, in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he co-directs the Social Computing Systems (SALT) Lab. His current research focuses on designing inclusive privacy mechanisms for marginalized users. He has won an NSF CAREER award, two IAPP SOUPS Privacy Awards, two Facebook/Meta research awards, and a Top Privacy Paper for Policy Makers selected by the Future of Privacy Forum. He and his work have appeared in media outlets such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, BBC and China Daily. He has communicated his research to policy makers by giving invited talks at the Federal Trade Commission. He received his Ph.D. in information and computer science from the University of California, Irvine.
