The IEEE Computer Society (IEEE-CS) Board of Governors has confirmed incoming editors in chief of their publications, including CSL and ECE Professor David M. Nicol, who will oversee IEEE Security & Privacy, the most widely read journal on security and privacy in computing. His tenure of the peer-reviewed journal will extend through 2020.

This appointment is an honor that reflects his substantial accomplishments in the field. Nicol, Franklin W. Woeltge Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is the director of the Information Trust Institute (ITI) and one of the Illinois researchers working on the next-generation Internet of Battlefield Things. He is also the director and principal investigator of the Critical Infrastructure Resilience Institute (CIRI) at the University of Illinois, who announced a new partnership with the U.S. Coast Guard to increase the security of ports. He is also an affiliate computer science professor and a research professor at the Coordinated Science Lab.
